Lot 2028 GOOD CONDITION TIP DOWN ROOK RIFLE BY JOHN DICKSON
OF EDINBURGH. Cal. 300 Rook. S# 5648 (Dickson 1904) (Webley #68027). The 26" tapered octagon barrel is fitted with one standing, two nested leaf express rear and silver bead front sights. Top flat is engraved "JOHN DICKSON & SON, Edinburgh". There are no proofs on bottom of barrel or barrel flats. Webley # "68027" is in front of loop. Case hardened boxlock hammer tip down ejector action with side lever on right side is engraved with sprays of well cut scroll within geometric and vine borders. Webley S# is stamped on bottom. Dickson S# is on trigger guard bow. Lightly streaked European walnut steel capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14-1/2" over ribbed wood butt and features flat top checkering around grip and a vacant silver oval on toeline. Matching small splinter forend with horn tip has spring tension release. CONDITION: fine. Barrel retaining over 70% original blue with scattered flecking and considerable edge wear. Action retains most of its original case hardening color silvered and lightly pitted around bottom. Stocks retain nearly all of their original finish with marks and scratches.
